Hi and welcome to our site, we are a couple of 40 somethings who have given up the rat race to find another way in life.
Who are we…?
Ady, originally from Cornwall has moved around growing up but mainly came to rest in the Farnborough area. He was a restaurant Head Chef for many years and then moved on to contract catering management for the last 10 years. Played Bass in a few local bands, enjoyed riding his mountain bike and a love of aircooled VWs.
Nina (Christina), Born in Liverpool but soon moved to Farnborough, Hampshire and has lived there all her life. She worked in IT for over 20 years, being in her last role for 8 years at McLaren. Over the years Nina has loved being active from playing Netball, getting muddy at the local military boot camp and running with a great local club.
Over the years we have enjoyed weekends away at VW Shows, been on many snowboarding and summer holidays. We enjoy paddleboarding, cycling, and hiking.
Why the change
Back in 2017 Nina became ill with Cancer, she had to endure Chemo, radiation and surgery. Thankfully she has come out the other side. The following year Ady had a bit of a break from work during the summer, of which we enjoyed many weekends down the beach paddle boarding, going away on holiday and a bit freer time to enjoy our hobbies.
These experiences got us thinking about the future and what we wanted! Long story short we sold our 3-bed terraced house in Farnborough, lodged with my parents in the New Forest and bought a motorhome!
Whilst we have enjoyed travelling around in the motorhome, we haven’t given up work completely. This brings us to the reason why the blog. We want to record what we get up to, what work we do and be a bit of help and resource for anyone else thinking of this kind of lifestyle.
